VALENTINE'S DAY BOX
Does anyone remember the Valentine's Day Boxes that school children used to make to hold the Valentine's Day Cards that you exchanged with classmates? Well, today, most teachers just give out brown paper bags and have the students color on them, place their names on them, or sometimes decorate them.
A week ago, my five year old Grandaughter Kylee and I made one for her pre school classe's Valentine's Day Party. They are to hold her cards that she will get from classmates. The box was so simple to make.
All you need is a shoe box that you no longer need, some red tissue paper, paper lace heart or flower cutouts, stickers in the Valentine's Day theme and glue.
Your local WalMart is a great place for purchasing stickers. Just look in the greeting card aisle. You will find more than you need. I purchased some puffy ones, 3 dimensional ones and Valentine Lady Bug Stickers.
To begin with, just cut a slit in the lid approximately 1/2 inche by 4 inches. Then, you take your red tissue paper and cover the lid, both inside and out and use scotch tape to fasten it with on the inside of the lid. Next, tissue paper the main box using the same technique as the lid. It is kind of like wrapping a gift. Place the lid on the box and have your young person decorate away using Elmer's Glue for the cut outs and placing the stickers everywear.
So, with a little help from Grandma, Kylee is all ready for her Valentine's Day Party.
As I take care of my Grandaughter two days a week, I am always looking for crafty projects to keep her entertained. She loved decorating this Valentine's Day Box and I am sure your little one will too.
Happy Crafting.
